Three solid days of driving. It’s beginning to wear on me. Thank goodness Lucas has been here to keep me company and help with the driving. We are now settled in Maine, having driven through Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Canada, New York, and New Hampshire. All of these states had their versions of tolls. I laugh thinking of people complaining how expensive California gas is with all its taxes, but here, it’s so expensive to drive on the freeways. In addition to that, there must be a massive investment in infrastructure structures to capture license plates for every on and off ramp. Crazy stupid. Figuring out how to get online and pay for each different state’s tolls is insanely difficult.
Arrived as the sun went down. KOAs are always a great place to settle, and this one is no different. We got the dogs out for a nice run, returned to the trailer and set up. This trailer is going to give me more grey hairs than I already have. The movement of the trailer must have been too much for the medicine cabinet, because there it was lying on the floor of the bathroom with screws pointing out and crap everywhere. Not to be undone, the toilet flusher decided to stick and the bowl filled up with water, overflowing all over the floor of the trailer. Aargh!!! It’s clean water, but last thing I need is water overflowing onto the floor. Not clear what the problem is as it is quite random. Sigh.
Tomorrow, I’ll be heading up to Augusta to search for Anthony and Arnold Murray records. Not sure what to expect. After a search there, I’ll be taking Lucas to the airport in Augusta as he flies back to Seattle.
