Two solid days of driving after leaving Indiana, and tomorrow is another – a long one to Carlsbad Caverns NP. At least then I will at least have two nights there to visit the park and take a break from traversing the country.
The end of today’s drive, however, was filled with sweet rewards. Not sure what you call the son of a nephew, a great nephew? I guess that is it, as I am a great aunt.
I arrived in my RV spot north of Dallas, set up camp, then made my way over to a restaurant near Dan’s place. It was just great seeing him again. It’s probably been at least 12 years, and at that time we were all together as a family riding the rapids in rafts on the Salmon River. Now, Dan is all grown and full of stories about how he is making his way in this world. I feel lucky to have had the chance to catch up.
Not a big fan of the heat, though. It was 86 degrees when we met up at 6:00, and now as I’m getting ready to turn in, the trailer feels a bit stuffy. Tomorrow will be another scorcher, but the pooches and I will be in our air conditioned truck. Luckily, the layover day at the national park is supposed to be in the low 70s. I feel like I should write more, but I’m tired, so this is a wrap up til tomorrow.
