Uh, oh, starting to get some bad weather. It’s been so unbelievably beautiful this whole trip so far (well, except the 84 degree day in Badlands), and now cold rain. It’s definitely not unbearable, but those beautiful blue skies against the fall foliage are gone.
Today the strangest thing happened. I’ve been digging into my ancestry for well over 8 years, finding nothing on Anthony Murray except that he existed. After all the Anthony news discovered in the past couple of days, I figured it was necessary that I be here in Maine checking more deeply. Today, I’m in Starbucks performing random searches on my ancestors, and there, up pops Anthony Murray’s death record. What? How was that even possible? But there it was in black and white, of course, indicating Anthony Murray was born in Dorchester, Maryland. Could have saved me a trip back east – Ha.
I have four more goals while on my trip. First, I hope to find Anthony’s birth record so I can find out who his parents were. Second, I’ll be visiting the Marvin Cemetery in a few days – where I’m hoping to find David Marvin’s grave stone. (I’ll explain that connection later). Third, I’ll be visiting Paradise, PA, the city that my ancestor, Marie Ferree founded (also explaining that connection later). Fourth, I so look forward to meeting Tina Couch in Rushville, Indiana and seeing what she’s done with the James Murray House.
Rain and more rain today. I’m so glad to have my cozy little trailer instead of a tent – except when the medicine cabinet falls off the wall and the black tank leaks so I get sh’t water coming out when I open the tanks to drain them. Re-mounted the medicine cabinet today with much agony and cussing. I believe it will NOT fall off the wall again. I still can’t believe they thought that a screw through 1/8” paneling would hold up a rather heavy cabinet. Just hope the rest of the cabinets are better fixed to the frame.
Tried to find a walking trail using the state park map, to no avail. The dogs looked happy with their brief walk around the campground, so into the trailer they went and now with the rain, we’re all settled in.
Tomorrow, another Boston area campsite – with WiFi, water, electricity, the works!
