No luck in hearing back from the Wellfleet Historical Society. I would have driven over there if there were a small possibility of finding new information, but with no contact, no specific place to go and it being a nearly 2-hour drive, that just didn’t make sense. Instead, I focused on doing as much research as possible here in the campsite using my WiFi.
I heard back from the genealogist in Maryland. I will meet up with her on Friday. My expectations are very low. She informed me that Maryland didn’t keep birth records before the 1800s, and if I knew which denomination Anthony or his parents followed – or which minister married the parents, I might be able to find a christening record. That’s just not a possibility. First, in all the gems I have discovered recently of Anthony Murray, there is not one reference to a specific religion – or any religion. Second, I have no knowledge of his parents; finding out who they were would be amazing.
I also hear from the genealogist in Maine. She sent me links several land documents for Anthony. Reading through those records will take some serious studying.
I’ve given myself 5 nights in the DC area – probably too much, but it’s ok just having some down days to write, walk the dogs, do laundry, etc. During that time, I am very much looking forward to getting together with my Craig cousins, Jenny and Kiri.
Tomorrow, off to Pennsylvania!
Hey, how about this photo of street lights. It’s anyone’s guess which one you are supposed to follow!

Ha Ha! Well at least it’s giving you some direction (if not many) …think about sitting in Montana at a four way stop…waiting for someone to make the first move…first hand experience…be patient, it will take a long time. Ha Ha!
You’re doing a great job!
Thanks, Vanessa!
